How to Read an M3U Path Map

Make one explicit selection

  1. Select a local folder broad enough to include the playlist and the media names you intend to compare. Do not select private folders unnecessarily.
  2. Choose exactly one .m3u or .m3u8 file from the dropdown. Selecting a folder or changing the dropdown does not read playlist bytes.
  3. Press Inspect selected playlist. Only that file is read; media files are not opened.
  4. Read the original entry, containing-directory base and lexical target together. The selected folder prefix is a comparison root, not part of the entry.

Decide what to check manually

EXACT_MATCH means the computed name exists in this selection. Test the intended player separately. MISSING means the name was not supplied by this picker; it does not prove the file is missing from your computer. Case and separator candidates are evidence, not automatic corrections.

First, Previous, Next and Last navigate the full result without reading the playlist again. Paths may be visibly truncated to 500 characters. Candidate previews show the first 10 available names and their full count; a collision never chooses one for you.

Clear or start again

Clear drops this page's selection and results. Changing the selected folder or playlist invalidates the old result. Navigating away clears the page-memory state through its pagehide hook; the tool does not save a session to browser storage.

If an input is out of bounds or cannot be decoded, UNKNOWN appears instead of a partial confident result. Reduce the selected tree or inspect unsupported syntax manually, without treating a smaller selection as proof about omitted files.
