M3U Path Map References

Primary references

Reference scope was reviewed on 6 October 2026. Linked documents belong to their respective authors. This site contains original explanations, not copies of their manuals or code.

• Official mpv manual: paths distinguishes player path inputs. It does not establish universal M3U resolution rules.
• VideoLAN VLC 3.0 VLM input-address documentation distinguishes native addresses from file URIs in that context, not all playlist behavior.

Why this narrow tool exists

• Airsonic issue 1731 is a 2020 relative-playlist import report. The repository was archived in 2021; this is historical evidence, not a claim of a current unfixed bug.
• Strawberry issue 2016 is a 2026 containing-directory and portability discussion, closed as not planned with further information requested. A longer relative traversal is not inherently incorrect.

These independent reports illustrate a problem, not search volume, owned traffic or guaranteed compatibility. No reported playlist or media file was downloaded or reused in this tool's original examples. The linked projects do not endorse this tool.
